Ekahau Wi-Fi Design Day – Asia Pacific

If you happen to follow the @Ekahau Twitter handle then over the past few weeks you’ve likely seen quite a bit of commotion around #WiFiDesignDay which is our annual one-day event where we celebrate all things Wi-Fi. It includes a bunch of technical/ educational talks from a range of different customers, system integrators & vendors.

I was lucky enough to be a part of the Asia Pacific leg of the event this year, being present at both the Singapore & Sydney events. For a recap on the UK leg, feel free to check out the following blog by the WiFi Ninjas.

This was also the first year we had a Wi-Fi Design Day in Singapore & it sure didn’t disappoint. Amongst the speaking lineup was Cisco, Commscope (Ruckus), Cambium Networks, Aruba, WLAN Pros & a few local system integrators. The speakers covered a range of topics including RF fundamentals, design best practices, Wi-Fi validation, Wi-Fi troubleshooting and the future of Wi-Fi.

One of the recurring themes coming out of Wi-Fi Design Day was where else could you attend an event with several major Wi-Fi vendors all presenting at the same event on the same day? Very few indeed.

Now the Sydney Wi-Fi Design Day event was a special one since it was being held at the Sydney Opera House. We had never seen such an enthusiastic response from both speakers & attendees alike – but can you blame them? How often do you get to speak or attend an industry event at such an iconic venue & talk Wi-Fi?

With harbor bridge views the day kicked off early with some good barista coffee to supplant any yawns, as we covered topics such as wireless security, designing Wi-Fi for unique events (robots, warehousing, atriums), Wi-Fi troubleshooting and finished with a Wi-Fi 6 “power hour” covering key features & design considerations all while closing with an interactive OFDMA packet capture demonstration. What a day.
